About Acceptra
We have seen that college applications decide a lot about where a student ends up in life. We have also seen that how strong an application is often comes down to luck: whether the student had someone around who knew how the process works.
Some students do have a private consultant, or a school counselor with time to spare. The sad reality is that most don’t. At most schools that even have a counselor, one counselor is responsible for hundreds of students, and a private consultant can cost thousands of dollars.
We want every student to get the same quality of help. That’s why our free tier gives every student the essentials, and our unlimited tier costs a fraction of what consultants charge, so that everyone, not only the rich, can have unlimited access.
How we started
Before writing any code, we talked to 18 US admissions officers and more than 30 school counselors. We spent months rigorously learning about the process, and thanks to our advising counselors, Acceptra is not like other generic tools!
Among the things we asked was what separates a strong application from a weak one. Strong applicants know which colleges actually fit them, know their deadlines early, and write about something real, in their own words. None of that takes being a genius. It takes good information and someone who’ll give you honest feedback.
That’s what we built Acceptra to do.
Ethical Considerations
We wrote these down before launch, so we can’t quietly change our minds later.
- Acceptra won’t write your essays or applications.
- Acceptra won’t guess. If it doesn’t know something, it will say so, and will try to find out when it can.
- We won’t promise you’ll get in. Nobody can.
Counselors
School counselors are the reason a lot of students make it to college at all. What they never have enough of is time. We built Acceptra with counselors, and the goal is simple: take the repetitive questions off their plate so they can spend more time with the students who need them.
